Spectrum PPS AM230
High performance for special applications
Spectrum PPS AM230 is another in a series of specialised, high-temperature filaments available from Spectrum. Our material is based on an engineering polymer PPS with exceptionally high mechanical properties. Even under continuous loading at high temperatures (above 100°C), rigidity, strength and creep resistance remain unchanged. Spectrum PPS AM230 has a softening point (VICAT) of up to 236°C.
The filament also has remarkable chemical resistance – it is virtually insoluble in any known solvent, including concentrated acids and bases. A distinctive feature of Spectrum PPS AM230 is its inherent non-flammability, even without using flame-retardant additives. Due to its high dielectric strength, PPS is an ideal insulator. Also noteworthy is that PPS exhibits excellent adhesion to silicone, which successfully enhances its functional qualities in applications requiring airtight connections between individual components.
The impressive properties of PPS allow for very versatile applications in 3D printing. Especially in the electronics and automotive sectors, where parts have to withstand the highest mechanical, electrical, thermal and chemical stresses.
Spectrum PPS AM230 filament is designed for high-temperature printers (head temperature 300-330°C; working platform 100-120°C) with an actively heated chamber (60-80°C). Despite the high dimensional stability of the material, to avoid stress cracks resulting from a sudden change in temperature (especially if the model is geometrically complex), we recommend leaving the model in a warm chamber to gradually cool the print before removing it.
Advantages
- HDT thermal resistance (0.45MN/m2) – 129°C
- Vicat softening point – 236°C
- excellent chemical resistance
- very high dimensional stability
- solvent resistance
- high dielectric strength
- perfect bonding of the layers
Applications:
- live parts of plant and machinery
- precision components
- components exposed to concentrated acids, bases and solvents
- production tooling
Packaging
Filament is reeled on the neat, transparent spool. Each spool contains information on the type of material, diameter and recommended printing temperature. Filament is vacuum-packed with a moisture absorber. Whole product packed in the original, folied Spectrum Filaments packaging.
